Maria Montessori describes the 5 senses as the keys to knowledge. She speaks of them in scientific and cultural terms:

"The senses are points of contact with the environment, and the mind...
The child who has worked with our sensorial apparatus has not only acquired greater skill in the use of his hands, but has also achieved a higher degree of perceptiveness towards those stimuli which come to him from the outside world....
The sensorial material provides a kind of guide to observation, for it classifies the impressions that each sense can receive: the colors, notes, noises, forms and sizes, touch-sensations, odors and tastes. This undoubtedly is also a form of culture."

We only use approved Montessori material, in keeping with the Montessori Method.

Montessori materials are custom-made for the teaching program. The binomial cube (below) teaches the child the principles of geometry
at a very early age.
